The THOR RC5000 Mine Exploration RC Rig is engineered to deliver reliable, high-performance drilling for mineral exploration and grade control programmes in demanding environments. Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the RC5000 combines robust construction with proven hydraulic systems to maximise productivity, minimise downtime, and provide dependable performance throughout extended drilling campaigns.
Powered by a 100 HP deck engine and producing 9,000 Nm of rotary torque, the RC5000 achieves drilling depths of up to 752 metres with 4″” RC rods and 626 metres with 4.5″” RC rods, depending on drilling conditions. The rig supports Reverse Circulation (RC), Down-the-Hole (DTH), Air Core, and Mud Rotary drilling, providing the flexibility required for a wide range of exploration applications.
The RC5000 features a chain-free hydraulic feed system, heavy-duty reduction gearbox rotary head, hydraulic head tilt, and a clear-view operator control station for safe and efficient drilling operations. Available in both track-mounted and truck-mounted configurations, the rig can be equipped with various compressor options to suit individual drilling programmes, making it an ideal solution for exploration contractors and mining companies operating across diverse terrains.
