The THOR RC8000 Mine Exploration RC Rig is engineered for high-capacity reverse circulation drilling where maximum depth, power, and reliability are essential. Designed and manufactured in South Africa, the RC8000 combines heavy-duty construction with advanced hydraulic systems to deliver outstanding performance for mineral exploration, grade control, and resource definition drilling.
Powered by a 140 HP deck engine and producing 18,000 Nm of rotary torque, the RC8000 achieves drilling depths of up to 1,177 metres with 4″” RC rods and 981 metres with 4.5″” RC rods, depending on drilling conditions. The rig supports Reverse Circulation (RC), Down-the-Hole (DTH), and Air Core drilling, providing the versatility required for a wide range of exploration applications.
The RC8000 features a chain-free hydraulic feed system, heavy-duty reduction gearbox rotary head, hydraulic head tilt, and a clear-view operator control station for safe and efficient drilling operations. Available in both track-mounted and truck-mounted configurations, the rig can be equipped with various compressor options to meet specific project requirements, making it the ideal solution for drilling contractors and mining companies undertaking deep exploration programmes.
